Basically I feel as though I've been punched in the gut.... I am more scared for my future than I have ever been before....
I'll only talk about one thing tonight. Most people who voted for Bush (according to exit polls) said that they did so because of his values, saying he has good morals. Tens of thousands of dead iraqi civilians, thousands of dead American soldiers, and many other now dead innocents around the world I'm sure would think otherwise. But of course, we don't have to pass a "global test." Tax cuts and the infallable American Way take precedent over such things as the value of a human life. There's your moral argument.
That's all I can muster tonight.... perhaps I will go to sleep and a miracle will occur.

Thank you... And it's true... most Americans just have a hard time seeing the big picture outside of America. Perhaps the large oceans on each side of us lead people to that false sense of isolation. I really can't figure it out... And don't worry. We'll keep fighting...
Yo-
It's cousin Amanda from that other coast...singing the blue state blues:(

I too am at a loss...and the part that really burns is that they say this election was determined by the "values and morality" issue. In the end, too many people didn't care about the economy or the war, they cared about two men kissing and control over a woman's uterus...and they claimed it was about values. The idea is absurd.
What I would love to know from all those people who voted for Bush because of the "values" issue is WHAT EXACTLY DO THEY VALUE?!?!--Because they sure as hell do NOT value human beings...not to mention truth, justice, democracy, AMERICA, etc.
I have extremely strong values which is why I did NOT vote for Bush. Bush's foreign policy sickens me and his domestic policy enrages me...practically speaking, the Bush administration is egocentric, short-sighted, manipulative and just plain stupid in their actions. It is painful to think of how our constitution will survive another four years...all I can say is if you value America at all, you better hope that Sandra Day O'Conner sticks it out another four years...Rehnquist isn't going to make it and that is bad enough, but the thought of Bush appointing multiple "justices" is too much.
Don't mean to be a drama queen about it...the wounds are still fresh though. I guess I'm a hopeless optimist...I really believed!! And I'll believe again...just need time to mourn and bitch about it.
Ha! "Values"..."morals"...I really think that this administration could benefit from a dictionary because they seem very confused.
I value human beings. I am a democrat.
