Mp3 Player

Back in SLO. Quarter starting... oh joy....

So it was my birthday (yesterday now... big 20! wooh?) and I came into some money. Actually I asked for it because I want to buy an MP3 player. Now originally I was just gonna go with the flow and purchase an iPod, but then I was doing some research and found the iRiver H320. It's pretty much the same price, but it has some additional features. At the same time however, it's not as sleek and, dare I say, sexy as the iPod. What's a guy to do? Do I go with the cooooool factor of the iPod or the practicallity of the feature-rich iRiver player?

Here's a link to the iRiver H320.

Here's a link to the iPod 20g version.

Anyone have any opinion on this one?

I'd say do a little more research on the iRiver and other iPod competitors--check out the iRiver in store before you buy. I'd support your purchase of anything but the iPod. I've had my 40GB Gen III iPod for a little less than a year now, and I often find myself cursing at it. The click wheel is cumbersome and often skips far too slowly or far too quickly through a list. The case of my iPod is damaged from normal wear and tear. The battery life is pathetic. While they say Gen IV is an improvement, I'd definitely check out other options before I myself bought another iPod.

Also, FYI, I had an iRiver 128MB player. It wasn't the most intuitive device I'd ever used, but it was a hardy little device and had bells and whistles that made it practical, not stylish.

The iRiver indeed sounds like a better purchase... Plus you don't give it enough credit for looks, color display whoops on uggo iPod anyday. ^^
